老师好!我在使用MODE的overlap功能计算一个模斑转换器和光纤的耦合效率,就像 https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042305354 中Step1那样,但是看上去模场径相差很远的SSC模式和Fiber模式为什么却有超过90%的功率耦合效率呢?

你看的是模斑,应该看场分量。

另外,OVERLAP计算出来的是估算,你看看其前提,不考虑反射。实际耦合效率可能不是这个数,你可以用FDTD加Port仿真一下。注意要选合适的模式。请参考 https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034396834-Understanding-the-mode-overlap-calculation

谢谢孙老师!还有两个问题想请教您:

模式重叠的功率耦合效率不应该是跟模场径和offset有关吗?其中模场径从这个图里面看不出来吗?应该从哪里才能看出来呢?看场分量的话应该看哪一个分量呢?用FDTD加Port的话感觉比较耗费时间,请问可以用EME来计算吗?EME可以计算这种沿传播方向上折射率有(不大的)突变的情况吗?还望不吝赐教!谢谢!

这个你需要再琢磨一下了,比如光纤的两个TETM模式,模场半径可能一样,但是两个因为正交,耦合效率是零。

你大致看一下两个模式的EzEy。看只是看,不影响计算。

对这种只有一个界面的情况,FDTD仿真不会费多长时间。如果是光纤,只包括包层一部分,不截断模式即可。EME也可以,但是要选择合适的模式个数,也需要有对EME较好的理解。两种方法都行。

楼主你好,请问您是否解决EME仿真overlap的问题呢,或者您是使用什么方法计算overlap的,我仿真fiber-to-chip的端面耦合耦合效率始终在30%左右,是否方便和您讨论一下?

为什么要用EME计算OVERLAP? EME可以计算整个器件的耦合效率或者S参数,比Overlap精确。

OVERLAP仅适用于知道两个器件的模式分布,在不考虑反射情况下估算的。

你可能需要对两种算法以及你要的结果做进一步分析研究,琢磨一下。

孙博您好,我现在仿真反taper型端面耦合器的模斑耦合效率,使用https://optics.ansys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360042305354 中的方法但感觉有些不妥,感觉案例方法是两个直波导之间模式的耦合效率,并不能反映真实的taper渐变过程,请问有什么更好的方法来计算光纤和经taper传输后的波导中的模场耦合效率吗?

Overlap 只能计算模式与模式,你如果想用EME仿真结果(含多个模式)与直波导的模式耦合,需要将EME中的多个模式相关叠加得到总电场与总磁场,然后用公式写脚本来做Overlap。
